Dive off the deck into your private lake, watch the water from the bath or the sofa by the woodburner, relax in the peace of a National Park
Ditchling Cabin is the embodiment of the words, “idyllic lakeside retreat”. Just you and whoever you brought along, alone by a private lake and free to canoe on it, fish in it, jump into it and swim in it. There’s a BBQ outside and seating on the deck and even an outdoor shower to encourage you to live outdoors as much as possible, but inside, the kitchen and the lounge have lake views through the folding glass frontage and the roll top bath upstairs looks down the length of the water. Whether you’re lying on the sofa with the woodburner crackling, you’ve bust out the board games or you’re just making breakfast, the sights and sound of the lake are always with you.
It’ll be hard to leave the sanctuary of the cabin, but day trips down to the beach at Brighton or the vineyards of Ditchling might tempt you out and the South Down National Park offers some great walking and cycling. Local shops and farms (try Mac’s for great organic eggs) or there are lovely country pubs such as the Bull in Ditchling if you feel like eating out.

We recently stayed at Ditchling Cabin for a well overdue, relaxing weekend away and had the most incredible time - and so I wanted to send a quick review.
From start to finish, the experience was 10/10. Especially the kindness and hospitality shown by Char, our host, who went above and beyond to make our stay as special and comfortable as it could be. She even let me borrow her wellies for the weekend, as I turned up slightly under prepared!
Pre-arrival communication was impressive, the cabin itself was stunning - with a very warm welcome and everything you could need for a relaxing weekend away. Location was stunning, with lots of privacy and a whole lake to yourself! The bed was heavenly, with beautiful views over the lake to wake up to.
Cannot express how much of a lovely weekend we had, and we will definitely be back!

I am reluctant to write this review as I fear the cabin will get booked up! It’s already fully booked for the Summer. We had a wonderful time even though we stayed during storm Dennis! The location is perfect especially for your dog as they can roam off lead as it is fenced. The cabin inside was well equipped and had the most comfortable 8ft bed and a dreamy bath tub. We didn’t get to go on the water because of the storm which is why we really need to go back in better weather.

The photos, although amazing, do not do it justice. We were there for my husbands birthday and both instantly relaxed. It was an amazing feeling having the lake as our private playground. The details were incredible from the invigorating outside shower, the luxury of an 8ft bed, roll top bath with an incredible view. We have already booked to go back next year! A reminder of what life is about!
